I have been trail running off and on when I have been able to find time this year. But I have not exactly set a training regiment.
By goal is to just get started even if I don’t run the best race. That’s why I signed up for a 10K Trail Run to force myself to get out and do it.
It starts in 6 Days from now!
Am I ready? Probably not, but I’m going for it.
I’ve been following Doug at Rock Creek Runner who provides some good information on getting started.
My 7 Day Trail Running Plan:
I will be continuing to run each night but will add on a little distance until I get closer to that 6 mile range.
I will get my gear together and figure out which rain jacket to wear since there is a good chance it’s going to be a we mud pit.
I will figure out what food I need. Are my cliff bars good for my snack if I need one. Actually at 6 miles, maybe I don’t need a snack.
What to Eat Before the Race
The day before the race – Not sure.
On the day of the race – Eat bananas, nuts and some other lite food.
During the race – Electrolytes and a cliff bar
I’ll add a few more tips as I go this week to document my journey.
My hope is that this run will help you get inspired to do something big this year as well.
What’s your big outdoor goal?
